Comments: Locomotive 4960 is a 2-8-2 Mikado built by Baldwin's Philadelphia Works in 1923. It has operated in freight service hauling coal for the Illinois and Missouri mines for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad until 1960. She received a complete overhaul in 1961 and headed up excursion trains in Chicago and Galesburg. In 1966 she was retired to the Circus World Museum . In the early 1970s she was donated to the Mid-Continent Railway Historical Society's museum at North Freedom, Wisconsin. In 1980 she was leased to an excursion operator, the Bristol and North Western Railroad in Bristol, Virginia. In March 1985, the locomotive was moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where she declined in storage. In 1989 the Grand Canyon Railway purchased the locomotive and moved her to Williams. She was shopped in the summer of 1993 and soon became the pride of the Grand Canyon Railway.
